Teens Plead Not Guilty to the Murder of a War Veteran

The two 16-year-old boys who were charged with the murder of Delbert “Shorty” Belton, an 88-year-old World War II veteran, pleaded not guilty. Belton was beaten to death in his car outside Eagles Lodge.

Authorities said they found a letter at the home of one of the teenagers who was arrested. The letter states that Belton was punched three times and they took his wallet and drugs from his pocket. It was also indicated that Belton was called up by the boys to buy cocaine however police said there was no evidence that the victim was a drug dealer.

The teens could face life in prison if found guilty.
