Weekend Crime Sweep to Reduce Violence in the City

In the two-day violence suppression mission in Stockton, dozens of people who were wanted for various crimes were arrested by law enforcement officers. According to the police officers, the sweep was a continuation of the 2012 mission which was implemented as a intervention strategy to reduce violence.

“We will continue to send the message to our community that we are following through on our commitment to combat crime,” Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said.

Officers of Stockton confiscated nine guns, seized 19.73 grams of marijuana and conducted 214 traffic stops. They also carried out probation compliance searches on known gang members and people who were connected to violent offenders.
